Story

Hi Friends,

Most of you will know why Kyle Andrews Foundation is so close to my heart - and for those that don't I'm happy and proud to let you know Kyle Andrews was my little brother - a young man with such an incredible dream that continues to live strongly because people donate to such a wonderful charity as is The Kyle Andrews Foundation, and because our community - both local and outreaching, participate in events like this one (please head to www.kyleandrewsfoundation.com.au if you want more on Kyle's story, or of course you can ask me :)

The Broome Pentathlon is an opportunity to incorporate a fantastic sporting event format, combining community involvement with local business identities, whilst raising funds for the Kyle Andrews Foundation.

 We are certainly not long jumping, discus throwing, javelin wielding prime athletes - the Pentathlon consists of Golf, Tennis, Pool, Darts and Lawn Bowls - and the potential to consume a few too many bevvies than you normally would on a school night.  I am doubly lucky because I am able to participate once again with my brother Troy - who luckily does have some sporting prowess and talent and helps us look a little better on the night at each event...even if he is not sure which hand I play golf or darts with.

If you are in a position to do so we are always so very grateful for any donation towards the foundation - and always understand when people can not - either way I feel so lucky to be part of this institution and so very proud to be so closely tied to it's founding father, my brother Kyle.

    The Kyle Andrews Foundation Inc

    The Kyle Andrews Foundation was established as a legacy to a brave young Broome boy, Kyle Andrews who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 11. In early 1998 Kyle was undergoing treatment for leukaemia at Princess Margaret Hospital and had a dream of bringing some of his young friends from Ward 3B to Cable Beach so that, in his words “they might feel better”.

    Thanks to the generosity of the people of Broome “Kyle’s Camp 98” was organised and for those children who attended, together with their carers and the organisers, the camp proved such a wonderful and enriching experience that it was determined that it be made an annual event. Kyle passed away in July 1998 after experiencing the first Kyle’s Camp. The Kyle Andrews Foundation group has been working together since 1998 to achieve Kyle’s dream but was fully incorporated as a registered charity with the Australian Taxation Office at the beginning of 2000.

    Our Main Goals;
    To ensure that Kyle's Camp runs in Broome annually to help children from Ward 3B in Princess Margaret Hospital (PMH) fight their battle with cancer

    To provide accommodation in Kyle's Cottage in Broome for the families of kids suffering from serious illness to get away as a family to experience Broome.

    To financially support Broome families with kids suffering  from cancer.
